ADHD & Autism Assessments

In-person & online · New Jersey

Hi, I'm Katie Crank (LCSW, C-NDAAP, JD), and I'm happy to answer your questions about assessment. I offer comprehensive ADHD and autism assessments for you or your child that help you better understand how your brain works and what supports may help you function at your best.

The process takes into account your developmental history, your areas of strength and vulnerability, and perspectives from people who know you well. Whether you're exploring how your brain works for the purpose of formal accommodations, or simply wanting to tailor your school, career, or life to better fit your needs, an assessment can help.

At the end of the process you'll walk away with actionable recommendations you can put to use in the short and medium term, along with real clarity about how your history and current functioning fit together.

What the assessment gives you

Real clarity

A thoughtful, affirming assessment that helps make sense of a lifetime of 'why am I like this?'

Validation, not pathology

Your strengths and vulnerabilities understood as a profile, never a defect to be fixed.

A readable report

A comprehensive (but genuinely readable) report with actionable recommendations, typically complete within 3 weeks.

Answers together

We hold a meeting to go over the results, so you're never left to make sense of the report on your own.

The process

How the assessment works

01

Intake & background

We start with a free 15-minute consult, then gather your developmental history and collateral information from people who know you well.

02

The assessment itself

Often 4 to 5 hours of structured assessment, held in person in Montclair (or live online for adults who can't travel), at a pace that respects your sensory and energy needs.

03

Report & results meeting

I interpret and analyze the results, write your report, and we meet to walk through the findings and recommendations together.

Good to know

Questions about adhd & autism assessments

Still wondering about something? The free consult is the perfect place to ask.

Who can be assessed?

Anyone age 5 and up. If you or your child have specific support needs for the assessment process, reach out for more information and we'll make it work.

Is this a neuropsychological evaluation?

No. Neuropsychological evaluations are conducted by psychologists. I'm a master's-level clinician and a Certified Neurodiversity-Affirming Assessment Provider (C-NDAAP), and I conduct ADHD and autism assessments: I look at your developmental history and combine it with information from multiple sources to identify a diagnosis or profile that helps you understand your strengths and vulnerabilities.

How long does the assessment take?

It varies based on scope, but the assessment itself is often 4 to 5 hours, with additional time spent gathering background information, including communication with people who know you well. Your written report is typically complete within 3 weeks of finishing the process.

How much does it cost?

A comprehensive assessment is $3,000, which covers intake, gathering background and collateral information, 4 to 5 hours of assessment, interpreting and analyzing results, writing the report, and follow-up meetings to discuss it. An Executive Function & Sensory Profile (a shorter process with a summary document rather than a full report) is $850. I'm not able to offer a sliding scale for assessments, but I'm happy to discuss payment plans if that makes the process more accessible.

What's your background as an assessor?

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and have been in clinical practice since 2011. In 2025 I completed a comprehensive post-master's course in affirming assessment through MindfulU, which led me to become a Certified Neurodiversity-Affirming Assessment Provider. I'm also part of a robust consultation community led by an affirming psychologist, and I'm a lawyer by training, which informs the analysis and problem-solving I bring to my work as an assessor.

Is the assessment covered by insurance?

Care Collective is out-of-network. Depending on your insurance plan, a portion of the assessment fee may be reimbursable through out-of-network benefits, and Katie uses Thrizer to make checking your benefits and getting reimbursed as easy as possible.

You don't have to figure this out alone.
