Frequently asked questions

A few things people often wonder about before reaching out, from insurance and fees to what sessions actually look like. Still curious about something? A free 15-minute consult is the easiest way to ask.

Do you see clients in person?

Yes. In-person therapy is a big part of what makes Care Collective different, since many local therapists are online-only. Katie sees clients in person at the Bloomfield, NJ office and offers in-person EMDR for kids. Virtual and hybrid options are available across New Jersey too.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Deeply. Katie (she/they) provides queer, trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming affirming care. Your identity is never something to be fixed or debated here, it's the foundation we build on. Care Collective is also allied with intersex, racial justice, sex worker, and HIV/AIDS communities.

What areas do you serve?

In person from the Bloomfield office, serving Bloomfield, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Newark, and the rest of Essex County. Online therapy is available to anyone in New Jersey, and parent coaching is available across the United States.

Do you take insurance?

Care Collective is out-of-network, which keeps your care private and fully tailored to you. Many clients use out-of-network benefits or an HSA/FSA. For those with out-of-network benefits, Katie uses Thrizer to automate the reimbursement process, so you don't have to chase paperwork. A sliding scale is available for those who may be eligible.

How much do sessions cost?

Individual therapy sessions are $225. Parent coaching is more accessible by design, initial 30-minute coaching sessions are $60 and can often be booked within a few days. A sliding scale may be available for therapy.

What's the difference between therapy and parent coaching?

Therapy is clinical mental-health care for you, covered by a treatment plan with the option to seek out-of-network reimbursement (Katie uses Thrizer to make this easy). Parent coaching is practical, strategy-focused support for a specific parenting challenge, no diagnosis, faster to book, and available nationwide.

What is EMDR, and who is it for?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is a research-backed therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they stop feeling so present. Katie is EMDR-trained and uses it with both adults and children coping with trauma, loss, and PTSD.
