Hi, I'm Katie Crank (she/they)
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the therapist behind Care Collective. I work with folks who've felt othered, unseen, or alone, and I believe, deeply, that none of us are meant to heal in isolation.

Connection is the whole point.
So many of the people I sit with arrive carrying the same quiet feeling: that they're somehow on the outside of things. Maybe it's because of who they are, their identity, how their brain works, the body or family or season of life they're in. Maybe it's because the support that was supposed to be there simply wasn't. Either way, the message they've absorbed is that they're alone in it.
I've seen how that isolation makes it so much harder to get unstuck. When we're cut off, from community, from people who get it, sometimes from ourselves, even small things start to feel impossible. The struggle isn't a personal failing. It's what happens when we're asked to carry too much without enough hands.
Through my own journey, and through the wisdom of the people I've been privileged to work alongside, I've come to believe that connection and community are at the core of sustainable well-being. We don't white-knuckle our way out of hard things in isolation. We move through them when we feel supported, seen, and genuinely connected.
That's the heart of Care Collective. I don't think of therapy as “fixing” what's wrong with you, because there's nothing wrong with you. My job is to be one steady part of your support system: a place where the way you're feeling makes sense, where your identity is the foundation rather than the problem, and where you don't have to do it alone.
Clinical depth, in plain language
The letters after my name represent years of training, but they only matter to the extent they help you feel better. Here's what each one actually means.
LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
A master's-level clinician licensed by the state to diagnose and treat mental health conditions. Social work training means I see you in the full context of your life, your relationships, your communities, and the systems around you.
PMH-C
Perinatal Mental Health Certified
Specialized certification in the unique emotional terrain of pregnancy, postpartum, and new parenthood, from anxiety and intrusive thoughts to the grief and identity shifts no one warns you about.
EMDR-trained
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
Trained in one of the most researched therapies for trauma and PTSD. EMDR helps your brain reprocess stuck, painful memories so they stop feeling so present, and I use it with both adults and children.
TF-CBT trained
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
An evidence-based model built specifically for children and teens healing from trauma, pairing gentle coping skills with paced, age-appropriate processing.
Good Inside Certified
Certified Good Inside Parent Coach
Trained by Dr. Becky Kennedy's team in the Good Inside approach to parenting, practical, connection-first strategies for the meltdowns, power struggles, and moments you don't want to lose it.
C-NDAAP
Certified Neurodiversity-Affirming Assessment Provider
Completed a comprehensive post-master's course in affirming assessment through MindfulU, qualifying me to conduct ADHD and autism assessments that focus on understanding your strengths and how your brain works.
Evidence-based methods, woven together for you
No two people need the same thing. I draw from approaches with real research behind them and tailor them to fit who you are and where you're starting from.
A structured, research-backed therapy that helps your brain reprocess stuck or painful memories so they lose their charge.
Names the real systems, sexism, racism, ableism, transphobia, that shape distress, so it's never framed as 'just you.'
Gets to know the different 'parts' of you, the protector, the critic, the wounded one, with curiosity instead of judgment.
An evidence-based model for kids and teens healing from trauma, blending coping skills with gentle processing.
Helps you understand the emotions underneath conflict and patterns, so you can build more secure connection with yourself and others.
Builds a kinder inner voice, especially for folks who are hard on themselves or carry shame.
Care that meets you exactly as you are
You shouldn't have to explain or defend who you are to your therapist. I work with individuals and families, from toddlers through adults, and Care Collective is an explicitly affirming space for so many communities.
Queer, trans & nonbinary folks
Affirming care where your identity is the starting point, never the thing to be solved.
ADHD & autistic adults & kids
ADHD, autistic, and AuDHD folks who are done masking to fit someone else's mold.
New & seasoned parents
From postpartum overwhelm to the meltdowns that test every ounce of your patience.
Trauma & PTSD survivors
Whether it's a single event or a lifetime of hard things, you don't have to carry it alone.
What makes this practice different
A few things I've built this practice around, because they're the things I wish more people had access to.
Real, in-person care
So much therapy has moved behind a screen. I still offer in-person sessions at the Bloomfield office, including play-based, in-person EMDR for kids, because sharing a safe space in the same room matters.
Explicitly affirming
Queer, trans, nonbinary, ADHD, autistic, and so many other communities are welcomed here by design. You won't have to educate me or brace for judgment to get good care.
Accessible parent coaching
Parent coaching is built to be more reachable than therapy, no diagnosis required, often bookable within days, and available to families across the U.S.
Serving Bloomfield, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Newark & Essex County in person , online across New Jersey, and parent coaching nationwide.
You don't have to figure this out alone.
